Dr. Herbert E. Weisberg,
Beloved Husband and Father
Dr. Herbert E. Weisberg, 88, passed Friday, April 5, 2013 after a short illness. He was the husband of Emily Weisberg.
Dr. Weisberg was born in Ramsey, NJ on April 4, 1925, son of the late Jack and Mae (Reiter) Weisberg. He earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Pennsylvania as well as being a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. Dr. Weisberg was awarded his medical degree in 1948. He served his internship at the Jersey City Medical Center (1948-1949) and residency at Hartford Hospital (1950-1953), being appointed chief resident in 1953. He was a proud Navy veteran, serving from 1949-1950 and 1956-1957, the latter as a radiologist at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Virginia. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Lt. Commander.
Licensed in both Connecticut and New Jersey, Dr. Weisberg had a private radiology practice in Waterbury, CT for 38 years. He was a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology as well as a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Radiology, the Connecticut State Medical Society, the Radiological Society of Connecticut, the Waterbury Medical Association and the New Haven County Medical Association. Over the years, he served in various medical association offices, including President of both the Waterbury Medical Association and the New Haven County Medical Association. He had also served as a delegate to the Connecticut State Medical Society, and a member of the Board of Governors and the Professional Liability Committee of the New Haven County Medical Asssociation.
Besides his wife Emily of 62 years, he leaves two daughters, Kathy Ann (Robert) Blickley of Centennial, Colorado and Ellen (Kevin) French of Beacon Falls; and two grandchildren, Michael and Steven Blickley of Centennial, Colorado.
Arrangements: Funeral will be held Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church of Waterbury, 250 Country Club Rd. Waterbury. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial is at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Chase Parkway Memorial/ The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury is in charge of arrangements.
