Philip M. Tiso

Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather

Mr. Philip “Phil” M. Tiso, 89, of Wolcott, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 14, 2013 at St. Mary’s VITAS Innovative Hospice Care surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Ann (Petro) Tiso.

Phil was born in Waterbury on March 23, 1924, son of the late Gaetano and Alice (Pesino) Tiso, He was a Lighting Engineer and salesman for Lighting Services for 45 years, retiring in 1989. He was an avid golfer and a longterm member of the Farmingbury Hills Golf Course. Phil also enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and playing Pinochle with his closest friends. Not only was he a devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was dedicated to his extended family and friends. He was a gracious and generous man with a zest for life.

Besides his wife Ann of 65 years, he leaves behind a son, Philip L. Tiso and his wife Susan of Hamden; two daughters, Carol Tiso-Taylor and her husband Paul of Watertown and Debbie Borzellino and her husband David of Wolcott; four sisters, Margaret Ficeto and Dora Finelli both of Waterbury, Agnes Geruch of Naugatuck and Alice “Honey” Mirabilio of Olsmar, Florida and Woodbury, Connecticut; six grandchildren, Kathryn Grant, Nina Tiso, Eric Grant, Peter Borzellino, Daniel Taylor and Cerise Taylor who all adored him. He was predeceased by his twin brother Louis and brothers, Anthony, Gaetano and Richard; he was also predeceased by two sisters, Jennie Testa & Anna Zeranski.

Arrangements: Funeral will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway to St. Pius X Church for a Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Edgewood Cemetery, Wolcott. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
