Francis "Flip" Filippone
(September 24, 1933 - April 28, 2012)
Mr. Francis “Flip” Filippone Loving and Devoted Husband Mr. Francis “Flip” Filippone, 78, of 751 Kettle Path, died Saturday April 28, 2012 in the presence of his loving wife at Southington Care Center. He was the husband of Terese “Terri” (Pugliese) Filippone. Flip was born in Waterbury on September 24, 1933, son of the late Rocco and Mary (Rotella) Filippone. He graduated from Goodwin Technical High School in New Britain, class of 1951, he was class president. He attended Juilliard School of Music. He worked as a purchasing officer for the State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation, for 37 years, retiring in 1997. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Dube Lane, Waterbury. He was an accomplished musician having played upright bass, electric bass and guitar and he was a longtime member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 186. He played Tuba in the Army Band during his service with the National Guard. He enjoyed making homemade wine and took great pride in his wine cellar. He was a communicant of St. Dominic Parish in Southington. Besides his wife of 40 years, he leaves a sister, Marie Kenyon of Colorado and two nephews. Arrangements: Funeral will be held Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home 430 Chase Parkway to St. Dominic Parish for a Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Calling hours will be held Wednesday morning, 9:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Terri would like to sincerely thank the staff at the Southington Care Center for the love, compassion, and excellent care given to Flip during his stay.
